About Lorato House
A home of love, healing, and hope, where every child is protected, nurtured, and empowered to thrive. Lorato House provides 24-hour residential care and specialised child protection for vulnerable children in Botswana.

A Place of Safety Since 2009
Lorato House Rescue Centre was founded in 2009 and officially opened in 2012 by Love Botswana Outreach Mission. It is a specialised child protection and residential care facility in Botswana, providing a safe and nurturing environment for orphaned, abandoned, abused, neglected, and vulnerable children, including children with severe disabilities and complex developmental needs.
Our child protection focused, child-centred, and trauma-informed model of care ensures that every child receives holistic support through residential care, safeguarding, psychosocial support, healthcare, education, early childhood development, and specialised disability services. All interventions are guided by children's rights, protection principles, and the best interests of the child.
Through individualised care planning and collaboration with families, government departments, and community partners, Lorato House works to protect children from harm, promote healing and development, and support safe and sustainable family-based care solutions wherever possible.
At Lorato House, every child is protected, valued, and supported to experience belonging, restoration, and hope.

A Word From Our Founders
Welcome to Lorato House.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our home, our children, and the vision that has shaped this ministry for many years.
Lorato House began as a vision God placed in our hearts, a calling to create a place where vulnerable children could find safety, unconditional love, and the chance to heal. From the beginning, our desire was not simply to build a children's home, but to build a sanctuary of hope for those who have endured abandonment, abuse, neglect, trauma, or disability.
Lorato House was established through Love Botswana Outreach Mission as an expression of God's heart for the most vulnerable. The word Lorato means love in Setswana, and love remains the foundation of everything we do. Every child who enters our doors is reminded that they are wonderfully created, deeply valued, and never beyond hope. Through trauma-informed care, spiritual encouragement, and a family-like environment, we walk with each child as they rediscover trust, joy, and belonging.
This work is only possible because of the remarkable caregivers, staff, volunteers, government partners, churches, and supporters who stand with us. Their dedication ensures that Lorato House remains a place of healing, dignity, and transformation.
Whether you are here to partner with us, volunteer, pray, or learn more about our mission, thank you for taking the time to connect with our story. Your support helps restore lives, one child at a time, and strengthens the future of this ministry.
With gratitude and blessing,
Jana and Jerry Lackey
